Needles, powders and pills...how to stay healthy!

No I'm not talking about their use in recreational activities. Unfortunately South East Asia, as well as South America and Africa, have a plethora of unfriendly bacteria, parasites and viruses we as Westerners are not accustomed to.

We're not just talking malaria here either - dengue fever, Japanese encephalitis (basically brain infection) hep a&b, rabies, bird-flu and typhoid. Some you get from mosquitoes, some you get from badly prepared food or drink, and others even just from human contact.

The way to try and prevent these is found in a veritable cornucopia of injections, tablets, sprays, tonics, pills, etc etc. Now I'm not overly squeamish, but looking at just how much I'd have to take, this is seriously off-putting! I know that the other option would probably end up with me dying from some rather nasty and protracted illness, but come on. Still, there's no real option but to man-up and do it. I have no real wish to die from some infected Thai lady-boy.
